Part One
Quest for the Tree Kangaroo An Expedition to the Cloud Forest of New Guinea. Paw Prints, 2009.
Suggested Grade Levels: 6-8
Genre: Non-Fiction
Part Two
My predictions for this informational text was it was going to be a book that gave solids facts about the tree kangaroo and did not include any pictures. I did not know it was going to be a narrative and I also did not know what a tree kangaroo was or that it existed and was endangered. I enjoyed reading about the expedition that the biologists went on and learning about a different culture with it's exotic animals.
Part Three
Quest for the Tree Kangaroo is a great book for kids who want to learn more about a different culture, exotic island such as New Guinea, and endangered animals. The book provided a plentiful amount of information about the endangered tree kangaroo in a fun way. Instead of laying out the solid information and facts about the animal, the book tells story about biologists capturing the tree kangaroos. I like how the book also incorporated fun facts and great quality photographs to enhance the reader's experience even more.
Part Four
During class the students and their group will participate in a scavenger hunt to find hidden facts throughout the room. After everyone has found all of the facts, the students will read the facts out loud with their group followed by a discussion.
